India’s no. 2 Industry Show approaching
NEWS RELEASERotterdam (Netherlands); 28 September 2009; Figures do not lie. The first edition in 1997 was visited by 23000 people. The last edition in 2008 was visited by 126000 people, making it India’s number 2 industry show.
From 7 – 11 January 2010, the University Ground in Ahmedabad (Gujarat, India) will be the scene of the 9th Engimach show. According to the organizers it is ‘Asia’s most dynamic Engineering, Machinery and Machine Tool show’.
India and Gujarat Province
India currently ranks 19th worldwide in production and 16th in consumption of machine tools. In both rankings India is likely to move up in the years to come. Exports have been on the rise; imports have seen phenomenal growth too. In just a short span since 2004-05 to 2006-07, the imports have grown from EUR 255 Million to almost EUR 400 Million. More and more multinationals are setting up their production units in India. Others outsource production to India. The sector in India is set to witness an exponential growth in the years to come.
Gujarat, by many described as the most active province, contributes to over 8% of India’s total engineering output. Major engineering clusters in Gujarat include foundry, shipping, induction furnace industry, machine tools, and auto components. Fast growing markets in Gujarat attract much new investment, especially in the engineering sectors.
