The obvious goal is to find more Finnish customers.

Complete casting & forging services

Source India offers castings from 50 grams to 3000 kgs and forgings from 50 grams up to even 35000 kgs. single piece. A large amount of processes are used, i.e. sand casting, lost wax, centrifugal casting, shell moulding, ring rolling, closed and open die forging.

Additional services like CNC machining, heat treatment and other processes are supplied, up to readymade products. As a minimum requirement Source India works with ISO 9001:2008 certified foundries and forging shops. Many specific approvals from i.e. ABS and DNV can however be delivered.

‘Most important is that we understand the European requirements in terms of surface finish, quality, testing and delivery very well through years of experience’ Mr. Mehta stresses. Hardship of Common Indonesians

There are many definitions of poverty. One that I feel is correct is: ‘Poverty is a situation in which you are struggling every day to provide for your basic needs. A struggle requiring your full attention throughout the day, leaving no time for analysis of the situation and planning to move out of poverty. In the meantime you realise that all you have (or parts of it) can be wiped out, by illness, weather conditions (floodings, storms etc.) or other hardship.’

Current driver of the family (Hardship example 1)
The driver of my father in law seems a responsible fellow. I cannot quite judge, never come to his house, but most of all, we never communicate (other than friendly mutual smiling), my Indonesian is by far not enough for any conversation above the ‘baby’s first words level’, and his English is possibly worse than that.
But he is a good driver, I feel safe when driving with him in a car (those using Indonesian taxis from time to time know this is not to be taken for granted). So for some reason I feel he is a responsible fellow, who has also a quite secure job, and therefore a quite secure income. He can provide for his family, can even have some savings.
But then his wife gets ill. Needs to be operated, operation needs to be paid, during operation it is concluded the diagnosis was incorrect. Another operation needed, operation needs to be paid again.
And that is just an example of the hardship Indonesian families suffer. Illness, wiping out all your savings.

Former driver of the family (Hardship example 2)
His name is Muhassan. He was the driver of my father in law for some time. Somehow he moved on to another job, a job however he could not keep. And naturally my father in law has another driver now.
Today (this text is written somewhere in February 2010) he came to my father in law’s house. Friendly smiles (all communication we are able to have, with my limited knowledge of Indonesian, his limited knowledge of English) were exchanged. Later on my wife explained he still has no job. Now that is bad in itself, worse is that as a result, his 13/14 year old daughter is no longer attending school.

Just trying to imagine what it means;

- having to survive without diploma in this Indonesia, which opportunities will this girl have.

- to have to take your daughter from school because you lost your job and food is more important than knowledge.

Innovation at new Dutch oil & gas event

Co-exhibitors pay 1000 euro for complete exhibition package.

Rotterdam, 1 December 2009; Engimach is a large Engineering, Machinery and Machine Tool show in Gujarat (7 – 11 Jan. 2010, Everything About Water is a long established Water exhibition, held in Chennai (7-9 Jan. 2010) and Meditec Clinika is a fast growing exhibition in the field of medical equipment and technology. 3 exhibitions of a different kind. However they do have something in common. Euracon, Industrial marketing service provider from Holland, is coming to all three shows. For all three shows they have a special co-exhibitor package.

Smart way into India package
The package offered by Euracon has a fixed fee that may be affordable, also in today’s difficult times, for many companies. A one time 1000 euro all in fee entitles companies to the following:

In 1997 the exhibition was held for the first time and had 23000 visitors. In 2008, Engimach visitor number had increased to 126000 visitors. Next to many suppliers of Machinery and machine tools, robotics and automation, there are also special halls for hydraulics and pneumatics, pumps, valves, chemical and pharma machinery, gears, motors and drives.

Everything About Water
This is an international exhibition and conference on Water and Wastewater management, held from 7 – 9 January 2010 at the Chennai Trade Center. Around 16000 trade visitors and 700 conference delegates are expected to visit Chennai, India, early January. Over 300 exhibitors will be showcasing themselves. All in all, it seems a good place to interact with leaders and experts from the water sector.

Euracon also offers advertisement space in the EAWater magazine, the main magazine for Indian water experts. EA Water magazine is a monthly magazine with over 18000 subscribers.

Meditec Clinika
From 26 – 28 February the Chennai Trade Center will be host for the Meditec Clinika exhibition, a tradeshow for the fast growing Indian and South Asian Healthcare sector.

Rotterdam, 17 November 2009; For the third time the Centre for the promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (Dutch abbreviation is CBI; www.cbi.eu) will be present at Euromold. This time the theme is ‘old and new’. An ‘old’ generation of successful exporters has been trained by CBI in the last five years. The sector experts will be present with all necessary information on these fully qualified, experienced and reliable exporters.
At the same time a group of 13 mould and tooling manufacturers has just entered a new export coaching programme of CBI. 13 exporters from India, South Africa and the Philippines successfully passed the CBI export audits and now enter the programme. Bosnian 3D tool design, scanning, printing and CNC programming
The CBI stall will have a Bosnian flavour this year. With pride CBI presents the MTTC Center for Advanced Technologies. MTTC is a cluster formed by 7 Bosnian companies with a vision. They teamed up to offer an range of services that can indeed be called ‘advanced’.

Rotterdam (Netherlands); 28 September 2009; Figures do not lie. The first edition in 1997 was visited by 23000 people. The last edition in 2008 was visited by 126000 people, making it India’s number 2 industry show.

Interesting growth markets in the EU medical scene

Vilnius, Lithuania; 7 August 2009.
From 17 – 19 September, the Lithuanian exhibition centre Litexpo in Vilnius is the scene for the Baltmedica 2009 exhibition. Baltmedica is the largest exhibition for Medical Equipment and Pharmaceuticals in the Baltic states (Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia), more than 7000 professionals in the sector are expected to visit.

The ‘Baltmedic’ markets
The European Union (EU) is the second largest market for both pharmaceuticals, as well as for medical devices and disposables worldwide. The role of Lithuania and the other Baltic states is still a limited one. Nevertheless all Baltic states showed very high growth rates in the years before the global downturn.

Growth in general economic rates were high, but certainly those in the medical sector as well. In fact the rates in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania have been the largest in the EU for medical devices. This market growth also resulted in a huge growth of import figures. Between 2002 and 2007 the import of medical devices and disposables rose by 39% for Lithuania and even 43% for Latvia.

The Pharmaceutical markets give further impressive growth rates as far as the Baltic states are concerned. Between 2003 and 2007 Lithuania saw an annual average growth of 12% in value.

The Baltic states seem also to profit from growing trends of outsourcing production and research to Eastern Europe. Relatively cheap, but well skilled and equipped labour is a reason for this, as well as the good education level, i.e. where it comes to the medical fields of expertise.

Main themes
At Baltmedica, all equipment and products used in hospitals, laboratories, dentistry, rehabilitation centers etc. will be exhibited. Many pharmaceutical companies show what they have on offer. Further visitors are informed about all aspects of a healthy lifestyle. During the exhibition events for both the general public as well as for specialists are hosted.

First Serbian Cryogenics Company with PED and TPED

Kryooprema has been exporting cryogenic equipment to its neighbouring countries and Switzerland for some time now. In 2007 this Serb manufacturer gained its ISO 9001 certificate. This was followed by PED (CE) and TPED (π) markings in 2008. These certificates and the fact that they are supplying to the famous names in industrial gas in Serbia, surrounding countries and Switzerland, prepared them for their next step in exports. This next step is the European Union.

Large product scope
Kryooprema manufactures cryogenic equipment for special requirements (veterinarians, laboratories etc.) and stainless steel and aluminum equipment for special purposes. An example is the supply of stainless steel ‘A’ frames used for supporting neutron shields (2x120t) in the prestigious Large Hadron Collider Project in Switzerland.

Since 1994 Kryooprema supplies cryogenic equipment and services in Serbia. In addition, the company manufactures vacuum components, access control equipment and equipment for LPG gas stations. But Kryooprema does more than that. It designs, partly manufactures and erects LPG and CNG gas stations and industrial gas cylinder filling plants. Overhaul and maintenance of high pressure gas cylinders and fire extinguishers are also arranged by them.

Brits, South Africa, 25 March 2009; South African electric motor manufacturer UMMAC offers a wide range of electric motors. Motors with specific design, shaft and voltage requirements with smaller production runs are their specialization. During the next Hannover Messe (20 – 24 April) they will be presenting their product variety. A variety that consists of shaded pole motors, squirrel cage motors, flameproof, commutator motors and induction motors for air movement.

Possibilities
UMMAC supplied motors for a many different applications. Mining is an important industry in Africa, at the same time an important industry for UMMAC. The same goes for construction. The universal motors of UMMAC are even used by autopsy laboratories for reliable plaster and bone cutting. This illustrates the many possibilities on offer.
In the United Kingdom UMMAC is successfully marketing and selling its range of sirens for safety applications.

Empowerment
UMMAC started the production of its motors Brits, 85 km from Johannesburg. The Brits area has a high unemployment rate, especially amongst the previously disadvantages black community. UMMAC especially employs staff from this community and teaches them, next to producing and assembling motors how to read and write.

Hannover Messe
UMMAC joined the CBI export coaching programme. CBI is a Dutch government agency promoting the imports from developing countries. Innovative Mechanical Seals on display

Mumbai; 20 March 2009; General Seals has been almost solely focused on the shipping industry for many years. Senior CBI expert Peter van der Sman audited the company for exports to the European Union. According to him the company has transformed itself into a successful manufacturer of mechanical seals for many more applications now.
Van der Sman feels the constant drive for modernization and up-gradation paid off for General Seals. Reason for CBI, a Dutch government agency promoting imports from developing countries, to invite General Seals to exhibit on their pavilion during the next Achema exhibition in Frankfurt. This exhibition is held from 11 – 15 May in the Messe Frankfurt.

Cartridge Seals
Amongst the seals on display in Frankfurt are the cartridge mechanical seals. ‘Design is sturdy’, according to managing director, Mr. Iyer, ‘so it can withstand severe operational conditions’. Slurry pump sealing is one of the main applications. The seals can be made independent of the direction of rotation and in accordance with all international standards, such as; Viz. ISO 21049/ API 682 / EN-12756 / DIN 24960

Advanced Mechanical Seals
Higher shaft run-outs (up to 3mm) and axial play (up to 1.5 mm) are main features of the Advanced Mechanical Seals, also on display in Frankfurt. They are used for mixers and agitators, pressure vessels and glass-lined reactors. The seals maintain contact, also under extreme operating conditions, as they have self-aligning seal faces.
Large cooling passages with the unique baffle plate arrangement for efficient barrier-fluid circulation are in place. They work independent from the direction of rotation.

Bellow Seals
General Seals produces Metal Bellow Seals for High Temperature Applications conforming to API 682 and ISO 24960. Micro plasma welding is used for the bellows to prevent heat damage. The bellows are made of 316L, Hastelloy C, Titanium, Inconel or Monel. The face of the seal is normally made of carbon, TC or SIC.

Next to Metal Bellow seals, Teflon bellow seals are also produced with seal faces made of carbon, glass filled Teflon or ceramics. These seals are resistant to a wide variety of corrosives such as acids and alkalies.

Pune, India, 17 March 2009; Clean Steam traps with a sanitary clamp body joint for easy dismantling. This is the main product Pennant puts on display during the upcoming Achema exhibition. Other new products include condensate pumps and two-way pneumatic actuated control valves. A new range of plug valves is also expected to draw much interest.

Chennai (India); 27 February 2009; Indian manufacturer Bhastrik supplies metal bellows and compensators for a wide array of applications. Applications are ranging from the most basic applications to extremely complicated and unique ones. Hydroflex shows flexibility at Achema in Frankfurt

Ahmedabad, 13 February 2009; A large variety of stainless steel corrugated metallic flexible hoses and assemblies is manufactured by Hydroflex in the Indian state Gujarat. Hydroflex uses the austenitic steel grades AISI 304, 321, 316 and 316L. The hoses are offered from 6mm NB (1/4”) to 200mm NB (8”). Braiding, when needed is also provided, sometimes even 2 or 3 layers. Normally the braiding comes in SS 304 wire, but SS 316 and 321 is also available.

Quality testing
Hydroflex director Mr. Amit Patel explains us all hoses pass through stringent quality tests. ‘Every single hose-assembly is tested hydraulically at 1,5 times working pressure before dispatching’ Patel explains. Pneumatic testing is rigorously conducted and raw materials undergo rigid inspections as well. Flex fatigue or cycle life tests, burst pressure (yield) tests, bend radius and flame tests are also regularly conducted.
Hydroflex is ISO 9001:2000 accredited by DNV and BS6501: Part 1 accredited by Germanischer Lloyd.

A database with exporters who have all undergone a stringent export audit. An audit especially looking at exports to the European Union. The same exporters, all from developing countries, have been coached in a 5-10 years export development programme. Most of them are fully up to the mark as far as European demands are concerned. Yet, name recognition is still very low in many sectors. This became clear again during the Euromold exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany last week.

Therefore let me stress it again, a visit to the CBI website is the best way to start your sourcing or outsourcing process.

Aquatech; Voetbal en industriële pompen uit Macedonië

MZT Pumpi geeft twee tickets weg voor voetbalwedstrijd Nederland - Macedonië.

MZT Pumpi heeft enkele interessante verhalen. Zoals de renovatie van de Mittal Staal fabriek in Bosnië. Pumpi heeft daar de watersystemen gerestaureerd. Ook verteld Dhr. Eftimovski trots over de zestien geleverde ‘end suction; pompsystemen, die aan elektriciteitscentralecentrales in Belgrado zijn. geleverd evenals de levering van double suction split case pompen voor US Steel-Serbia.

MZT Pumpi twijfelt er niet aan dat de meeste pompkopers, die Aquatech 2008 bezoeken of tijdens deze beurs hun producten tentoonstellen, gepassioneerde supporters van het Nederlands elftal zijn. Er bestaat dus een grote kans dat zij elkaar in april volgend jaar weer in de Amsterdam Arena zullen ontmoeten. Zal Nederland Macedonië opnieuw verslaan of kunnen we een onverwachte comeback verwachten? We zullen zien.

Wenige würden Mazedonien als Outsourcing-Ziel für Transportrollen und Förderanlagen auswählen. "Ein Fehler" findet CBI-Experte Peter van der Sman, "da Mazedonien alles bietet, was ein erfolgreiches Lieferland für industrielle Produkte benötigt." Die Käufer von Transportrollen und Fördersystemen gehören zu denen, die profitieren können.

Einige Fakten zu Mazedonien (Quelle: Wikipedia).
- Kürzlich von der Weltbank als der viertbeste Reformstaat aus 178 Länder eingestuft.
- Offene Volkswirtschaft mit einem Handelsanteil von über 90 % vom Bruttoinlandsprodukt in den letzten Jahren.
- Das Bruttoinlandsprodukt wird im Zeitraum 2006-2010 voraussichtlich auf durchschnittlich 5,2 % steigen.
- Eine Inflationsrate von nur 3 % in 2006 und 2 % in 2007.
- Die Regierung hat Programme zur Förderung der Entwicklung von KMUs (kleine und mittlere Unternehmen) ins Leben gerufen.

"Im Großen und Ganzen handelt es sich also um eine relativ gesunde Wirtschaft." Van der Sman führt noch einige Vorteile auf. "Mazedonien liegt geografisch viel näher als Indien, China, Vietnam etc. Außerdem liegt es in der gleichen Zeitzone wie Westeuropa. Gleichzeitig sind die Lohnkosten noch sehr niedrig."

Warum ist Mazedonien dann noch nicht im Bewusstsein der europäischen Industrie? Nach Ansicht von Van der Sman sind für diesen Prozess mehrere Faktoren verantwortlich. Der Krieg im früheren Jugoslawien hat seiner Meinung nach sehr geschadet. "Außerdem hat noch niemand die Message vermittelt", erklärt Van der Sman. "Mazedonien bietet eine Reihe von Vorteilen, doch es ist nicht leicht, das richtige Unternehmen zu finden. Nicht einmal mit Hilfe der Behörden.

Daher hat die CBI (eine niederländische Behörde zur Förderung von Importen aus Entwicklungsländern; http://www.cbi.eu/) es zu einer ihrer wichtigsten Aufgaben gemacht, Qualitätsanbieter von technischen Produkten in diesem Land ausfindig zu machen.

Gears and Gear Drives präsentiert eine neu entwickelte, einfachere Auslegung durch Integration eines Kegelradgetriebes in eine kubische Schraubenwinde, um den Antrieb um 90° zu drehen. Es handelt sich um einen zweifachen Winkelantrieb mit Schneckenantrieb.

Die Abbildung zeigt zwei würfelförmige Standardschraubgewinde und zwei würfelförmige Schraubgewinde mit integrierten Kegelradgetriebe. Sie werden von einem einzigen Motor angetrieben.

Synchrone Bewegungen werden am besten durch mechanische Verbindungen erreicht. Das bewährt sich bereits in zahlreichen Branchenanwendungen.
Seit Jahrzehnten werden Schneckengetriebe, Kegelradgetriebe und andere Übertragungselemente in Hebezeugen eingesetzt. Seither wurden ständig Anstrengungen unternommen, die Leistungsfähigkeit zu verbessern, die Größe und den Platzbedarf zu reduzieren und mehrere Verbindungselemente zu entfernen. Das Ziel: größtmögliche Einfachheit und Wirtschaftlichkeit bei Hebezeugen zu erreichen.

Gears and Gear Drives present a newly designed simple arrangement by integrating a bevel gearbox to a cubical screw jack to turn the drive through 90°. In fact it is a two-fold angle gear drive with worm screw actuation.

The picture shows two standard cubical screw jacks and two cubical screw jacks with integrated bevel gearbox. They are driven by a single motor.

Synchronous movement can best be achieved by mechanical connections. This is proven for many applications all over the industry.

Few would choose Macedonia as outsourcing destination for conveyor rollers and conveyors. ‘A mistake’, according to CBI expert Peter van der Sman, ‘as Macedonia has all ingredients a successful industrial supplier country needs’. Buyers of conveyor rollers and conveyor equipment are amongst those that can profit.

- Recently ranked as the fourth 'best reformatory state' out of 178 countries ranked by the World Bank
- Open economy with trade accounting for more than 90% of GDP in recent years
- GDP growth figure is projected to rise to an average of 5.2% in the 2006-2010 period.

- Government introduced programmes to promote the development of SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises).

‘So all in all it is a relatively healthy economy.’ Van der Sman adds a few advantages. ‘Macedonia is geographically much closer than India, China, Vietnam etc. It is even in the same time zone as Western Europe. At the same time labour costs are still very low’.

Why then, is Macedonia not a country ‘in the picture’ in the European industry. Van der Sman feels that a number of factors influence this process. War in the former Yugoslavia territory did much harm according to him. ‘Further, nobody conveyed the message yet’ Van der Sman explains. ‘Macedonia has a number of advantages, but it is not easy to find the right company. Not even through the official authorities. That is why CBI (Dutch government agency promoting imports from developing countries; http://www.cbi.eu/) made it a priority to find quality suppliers of engineering products in this country.

Cost efficient positive displacement pumps at Aquatech

‘We supply excellent positive displacement pumps very cost efficiently’, marketing director Mr. S. Giri explains the main strength of Hydro Prokav (HP) Pumps. HP Pumps recently is very successful on the European market. ‘We just sold 800 progressive cavitiy pumps to the UK and we have a 2 million euro contract in Sweden to supply progressive cavity pumps’, Mr. Giri shares some successes with us.

HP Pumps received over 20 orders from the 2006 Aquatech show. Interesting detail is that Hydro Prokav Pumps was not even physically present in Amsterdam. A small catalogue display was the source of their success. Orders came from Eastern and Western Europe, as well as from Scandinavia. An amazing result asking for an explanation. That is why we spoke to Mr. Giri.

Mr. Giri explains there are a number of reasons for this success. ‘Excellent quality’ and ‘cost efficiency’ are two of those reasons. ‘Our product was very unique and special among regular pumps. We received many inquiries. The inquiries were converted into orders because of regular follow up and timely responses from us’ completes his explanation.

There may also be reasons not mentioned by Mr. Giri. HP Pumps seems to be a dynamic company in every sense of the word. Recently newly developed spindle screw pumps (double and triple) have been launched. New internal gear pumps and sanitary design lobe pumps have been added to the production programme.
Certifications on CE / PED and OHSAS are in order, also an important element for European buyers.

Mr. Giri is exhibiting with his company as a co-exhibitor on the CBI stall. CBI is a Dutch government agency. Their mission is to promote imports from developing countries. Since the brochure display was located on the CBI stall in 2006, HP now will be present at this stall this time. The location is Hall 7, stand 400. They have an output of over 500000 units per year. Their facilities have ISO 9001, EMS 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certificates from DNV. They supply to large multinationals in India. They export to the USA, South Africa, the Middle East and Singapore. Some exports even go to Europe.
Yet, most European buyers will be unfamiliar, and Mr. Dharani, Partner and Global Business Manager, wants to surprise them.

Apart from all the above, Mr. Dharani is proud of the pump design department. ‘Our guys can really compete with Europeans on pump design as well. We made a huge effort here, as well as in research and development, and that is paying off now. When European buyers see our facilities and afterwards see the prices we offer them, they will even be more surprised’, Dharani is convinced.

He joined the CBI export coaching programme for Pipe and related products some years ago. CBI is a Dutch government agency promoting exports from developing countries. ‘We had some exports to Europe, but it was time for a long term focused effort to really make a difference for your European clients’ Mr. Dharani tells us. Coimbatore: 4 July 2008; Senior CBI expert Peter van der Sman, is convinced ‘Best Pumps’ will leave a good impression. ‘They really have a firm grip on the production process. Besides having an ISO 9001:2000, they will implement ISO 14000 and lean manufacturing’.
Van der Sman also mentions they have excellent housekeeping and practice OHSAS. ‘Not only do they manage their own processes well. They also educate and train their subcontractors. Supply of raw materials is timely and in order’. These last two points Van der Sman stresses. ‘Recent study shows that the lack of such process control is one of the main bottlenecks for European outsourcers and subcontractors’, he explains.

Het CBI introduceert tijdens Valve World een nieuwe groep leveranciers uit ontwikkelingslanden aan Europese importeurs. Plaats van handeling is Maastricht van 4 t/m 6 november. In de Limburgse hoofdstad staan kleppen en afsluiters centraal.

Het is een algemene wijsheid dat outsourcen in ontwikkelingslanden de nodige risico’s met zich meebrengt. De Associatie van Duitse Ingenieurs en de Rotterdamse Erasmus Universiteit zijn zelfs tot de conclusie gekomen dat dergelijke constructies, vooral in de ingenieurssector eerder tot teleurstellingen leiden dan niet. Also my dream. So I tried. I tried to write in as neutral a language as I could about an international network of industrial experts. About the challenge for CoSourcers to capitalize on the trend in the European industries to search for cheaper manufacturing opportunities in countries like India, China etc.

Looking Back; Aquatech 2006; Small delegation, big results

Only two participants from the Export Development Programme for Pipe and Process Equipment exhibited with CBI during the Aquatech exhibition in Amsterdam, a small delegation indeed. But no delegation to be ‘snubbed at’.

Around 300 people visited the CBI stand. This is an increase of over 20% compared to the last exhibition in 2004. Remarkable taking into account that the total number of visitors to the Aquatech exhibition only rose by 4% compared to the previous exhibition. Even more remarkable considering that during the previous exhibition CBI exhibited with 7 participants instead of only 2 this year.

Jan Nijeboer and Peter van der Sman of the CBI team feel that ‘smart promotion’ is the secret of this success. An extensive, but cost efficient mix of promotion tools were used to draw visitors to the CBI stand. A much targeted phone campaign was executed. Targeted to those companies who are likely to have an interest in the products promoted. These products consist of centrifugal pumps, malleable iron fittings and water handling pumps. A mailing campaign with the same target was executed as well.
At the same time the participants executed, under guidance of the CBI team, their own editorial campaign, attempting to get their message published. Their message of course being; “Visit my booth during the exhibition”.

It is this last element that is often a complete new promotion tool for our participants. Getting an article in a specialized engineering magazine is the best advertising you can wish for. Let us start with the obvious advantage everybody can think of. It is for free. No matter how interesting this may be, this is not the main advantage. The main advantage is that the specialized target audience will not recognize it as an advertisement. They will consider it a news article. Apparently this is such an important notice that their specialized engineering magazine finds it necessary to inform them about it. The chance that the reader will put a visit to the booth of our participant dramatically increases.
The fact that to most manufacturers in developing countries this is completely new and the fact that it is such an important promotion tool made the CBI team decide to give this such a high priority.

The Aquatech website itself was used to its full extent; press releases were published on the CBI Outsourcing activities, but also on the presence of the participants. E-mail signatures and announcements on various websites complete the promotion mix.
According to Jan Nijeboer (Commercial Manager of KommaNet Industrial Marketing Consultants and the CBI stand manager during Aquatech 2006) this is also ‘an important message’ we give to our participants. ‘Companies in our programme do not normally have huge promotion budgets. We did not have that either for promoting our Aquatech presence. Yet we really made a mark. If you do not have money, be clever !!’.

Not just in terms of visitors the results of this exhibition were ‘big’.
Khanna Malleables, first time participant and producer of malleable iron fittings expects to ‘cash in’ 350.000 USD in trial orders as a result of Aquatech 2006. And already they plan to come back to Europe to visit the companies of the most promising contacts.

APE Pumps is already experienced in the European field. Their centrifugal pumps attract fewer visitors, but that is only due to the nature of the product. Their business related to Aquatech may easily run into the millions of euros. This business is a combination of trial orders and of repeat orders that were either negotiated or sealed during the exhibition.

For the first time a local consultant joined the CBI team at Aquatech. Jay Srinivasan (Director of Industrial sourcing agency Unique Source Point and the local CBI consultant in Coimbatore) promoted three manufacturers of water handling pumps from the city of Coimbatore. He is from the same city and knows the companies inside out. Although the companies were not present themselves, visitors were very interested. Many brochures and CDs were taken. Visitors were especially interested when they heard that these companies had successfully passed a thorough CBI Export audit.

The interest of the visitors went so far, that already visits to and by European partners are taking place at this moment. Adding more results to the already big results of Aquatech 2006. It is more than likely that the three companies will be present in 2008 when the next Aquatech exhibition is taking place.

Aquatech showed a break in the trend of lower numbers of visitors to industrial exhibitions and subsequently to the CBI stand. The good news is that the quality of the visitors is judged very high by both the CBI team as well as the participants. First impressions show that the number of importers and traders is increasing. A good development for CBI, since we can often offer them cheaper suppliers offering the same quality.

From Eastern Europe and even from Asian countries a large number of public authorities visited the CBI stand. They are searching for suppliers for their, often large, project in public waterworks and face huge investments in waste water projects.
CBI did not mean to attract many visitors from the Middle East during the exhibition. That did however not stop visitors from the Middle East from visiting in great numbers.
They form a very good potential for our participants.

The title of this article already says it all. It was a small delegation achieving big results. From 30 September until 3 October 2008 we will however not have a small delegation. Instead of 2 this year, we already count 10 likely CBI exhibitors. Two years is of course too long. So just contact us and we will let you know which of those companies is most interesting for you:

Recently, several of our clients have been approached by a source that claims to be the “Office of the Auditor” of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs/CBI in an attempt to fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as the addressee’s bank data and signature.

In these letters, CBI clients are informed that they are entitled to receive a certain amount of money as a result of a successful participation in one of CBI programmes.
The addressees are requested to fill in a ‘Verification form’ requiring to provide bank data and a signed declaration.

Had to negotiate with my father in law today. He flies back to Jakarta on Tuesday.

Had a big pile of catalogues for our CoSourcers Jakarta office (perhaps known to you as Aristirta). Too big a pile, so had to settle in the end for only one catalogue per company.
Well, it gives our guys in Jakarta the opportunity to study supply of valves, flanges and finned tubes.

HP Pumps; What is next?

During Aquatech 2006 they managed to score huge export orders, without even being present.
Their customers; visitors collecting their brochures on the CBI (www.cbi.eu) stand.
Indeed they have an excellent website and good communication skills. But still, with a brand unknown at the time, it is a simply amazing result.

I wrote the below part as input for the CBI catalogue for this year’s Aquatech exhibition. Check them out, also if you are not into pumps.

Hydro Prokav Pumps

This company presents progressive cavity pumps, screw pumps and gear pumps at Aquatech. ‘Best known to give unmatched performance’ is on one of their catalogues. This may seem a hollow phrase to some. However, since they exported pumps to Italy, Finland, Poland, Rumania, Netherlands and Germany only through a brochure display (with no staff there) on the previous Aquatech exhibition, we have to admit, it is an unmatched performance as far as the CBI history is concerned. Their website (www.hppumps.com) has an unmatched speed, and gives a clarity on applications they supply, on their facilities and product line, that can hardly be matched by anyone.

Their only problem is that the height of our expectations for their performance on this year’s Aquatech are also unmatched.

NEW COMPONENT PLANT FOR INDIAN DIE CASTER

Coimbatore; 29 May 2008; You may already know AR Moulds as a quality die caster of dies from 80 – 2500 tonnage.

You may not know they have a new fully fledged die casting component production unit. The unit is equipped with 250, 420 & 800 Tonnage die casting Machineries. And we are talking about latest machineries.

Since you may not know this, AR Moulds present themselves in Frankfurt at the Euromold exhibition from 3 – 6 December this year.

Since 1990 AR Moulds offers moulds and dies for complex die casting applications. Since 1990 they also receive recognition from customers, through a series of awards they won. Indian Roller Burnishing experts

Sometimes you meet people who teach you 'new things'. Do you know what 'Burnishing' is? I did not know until I got to know Mr. Srinivasan from 'Bright Burnishing Tools'; http://www.brightburnishingtools.com/ in India. When last month at the Metav exhibition in Düsseldorf, Germany, he let me hold the actual tools i could fully picture just putting it in a CNC machining center. Now I share my knowledge on this interesting company with you.

Burnishing is a super finishing cold rolling process. 'Bright Burnishing Tools' is specialist in roller burnishing and makes a variety of tools for round in- and external diameters, tapered and multi diameter. Also concave profile and facing rollers are produced with many different profiles. All tools are adjustable and have a high degree of repeatability. CBI: Complete range of pumps at Aquatech 2008 Amsterdam

The CBI stall will offer a very complete pump range at Aquatech this year. Think of Water pumps, plunger pumps, floating pumps and mono pumps. A pump buyer cannot afford to miss the CBI stall this Aquatech. But also buyers of fittings and valves are advised to discuss their requirements. India, Macedonia and Colombia will be the countries represented in Amsterdam from 31 September – 3 October.

Macedonian Pumps at Aquatech

Just before the weekend, a pump manufacturer from Macedonia deserving your attention. Their name: MZT Pumpi http://www.pumpi.com.mk/. They exhibit at the Aquatech exhibition from 30 September - 3 October this year in Amsterdam RAI exhibition center.

This company already is a reputed company in the Balkan countries. Participation in the CBI programme is to give them the same status as in the rest of Europe. A mission that is likely going to succeed. Pumpi has an excellent range of high quality and lower-priced Centrifugal and Rotary pumps with which they can easily challenge the European competitor and surprise the Aquatech visitor. The relative geographical proximity of Macedonia is another advantage for the European pump buyer.
Firefighting, irrigation, water treatment, drainage are amongst the water applications they currently deal with.
‘Pump your way to Success’ is their slogan, and their course for their own success is set. You find them at Aquatech in stall 7.400.
